197: Unjust Verdict:

གློག་འཕྲིན། པར་འདེབས། ཕི་ཌི་ཨེཧཕ།
Since from the beginning from this year’s peaceful uprising, huge number of people are killed and imprisoned in Tibet. Among these misbehaviors of Chinese government towards Tibetans, recently some eight monks from Go-Jo-Thangkya Monastery were given unjust verdict by Chabdo Intermediate people’s court on September 23. Unjust sentence of life imprisonment was given to Gyurmed Dhondup(28) and Fifteen years imprisonment to Dorje Wangyal(31) and Kunsang Tenzin(20), ten years imprisonment to Rinchen Gyaltsen(28), Kunga Phuntsok(19) and Tsering Nyima(21), nine years imprisonment to Tsewang Yeshi(20) and five years to Thinley Wangyal. Such verdict was given to these innocent monks and the government gives the reason that these monks were involved in hiding a package of small explosives at yak corral in Kyabhel-Shang and broke some window panes. After giving consideration to some of the past planned activities of Chinese government, this incident also seems to be planned allegation to the monks. Even if this was not the acted drama of Chinese government, it is very clear to all that the house where those small explosives found hidden has been empty for long time and no one stays there. Therefore, the intention was not at all to kill or to destroy anything and none was actually killed and nothing destroyed also. Therefore, such verdict is not at all compatible to such a minor act of monks. It is really meaningless to give life imprisonment to suffer throughout life. Either from legal point of view or any other procedure, this act of Chinese government is not at all just and fair. After seeing the frequent domineering manner of Chinese government, it is always impossible to unite two different nationalities together under such oppression and bully and the two nationalities will never be equal. If anyone has to live under the rule of Chinese government, then it is for sure that they have to suffer under such oppression, bullying and torture. On contrary, when some Tibetans fight among themselves and killed some in that quarrel or fight, then they don’t always get such a severe punishment and at maximum, they get two years imprisonment if they were arrested after killing 2-3 Tibetans and many times, such real criminals don’t even get punishment. Therefore, if we compare and contrast all these acts of Chinese government in giving severe verdict to innocent monks and not even arresting real Tibetan criminals then we can very well understand the intention and policy of the Chinese government with regards to Tibet and Tibetans.

Whenever such verdict without any fair and just base is issued, it is utmost important for the Exile Tibetan government as well as other Tibetan NGOs to publicize as well as clarify all such unfair verdicts to the world. Similarly, it is even more important to grasp all the opportunities to do all these work on time like in saying as to mould when the metal is hot. It is not possible to change the decision of Chinese government with regard to this recent verdict, but it is our sole responsibility to tell this unfair and unjust verdict to the world.  Additionally, there are several numbers of Tibetans who are still in detention since March 10 and yet to receive any verdict from the Chinese court. Therefore, the Tibetan government in exile and all the Tibetan NGOs must concentrate on these matters. It is high time for all of us especially the Exile government to come out from that deceptive hat given by Former Chinese Premiere Deng Xiao Ping to Gyalo Dhondup, elder brother of H.H.The Dalai Lama in 1979 where he has said that leaving complete independence, we can resolve everything by peaceful negotiation. The whole three decades is going to complete since this was said and no improvement with regards to Tibet policy has been made.
