Was Dhondup Dorjee Innocent? 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0

Nowadays, issues on dismissal of Dhondup Dorjee sparked much debate among the online community.

Here’s the scenario of the whole incident:

On 8th February 2010, the President of the Tibetan Youth Congress(TYC) convened the conventional conference and decided to dismiss the Vice President Dhondup Dorjee from the TYC according to the Article 12 ,Chapter Ⅷ &Article 7, Chapter Ⅸ of the Rules and Regulations.

Mr. Dhondup Dorjee was strongly opposed to this resolution. He wrote a letter to clarify this matter. In the letter, he listed six reasons to prove the decision undemocratic and false. He insisted that it was not appropriate to apply on him the rule which should be used to restrict the behavior of regional chapter members. He stressed as a Centrex member he did have the right to have decision of his dismissal made by the key leaders of the Centrex and GBM. In addition, he also sought advice from Sonam Topgyal, the Kalon of TGiE, and the former leaders of TYC who helped draft the TYC constitution and managed to win their support

Is Dhondup Dorjee really innocent? Certainly not.
The essence of his argument is to prove the resolution undemocratic and false. As a matter of fact, his argument full of flaws doesn’t hold water at all.

Firstly, it was obvious that this resolution was passed through by the majority of key leaders of TYC. We can clearly see the signatures shown at the bottom of the resolution. He mentioned the Rules and Regulations over and over again. How did he obey the Rules? He lacked sense of discipline, and gave no respect on the resolution made by the majority. He never remorse on the mistakes he have made. Is it right to have internal affairs which can be solved within the organization posted on the website?

Secondly, why didn’t he say a word about matters on visa applications in his complaint letter? What he cared about most is his personal interest, rather than the interest of TYC, the interest of our nation. JUST SEE WHAT HE DID. He privately contacted American Embassy and leaked to them the real purpose of visa applications which made American Embassy confiscate all the issued visas and totally ruined the important campaign plans that have been prepared for months. Undoubtedly, it would be a rather humiliating experience for his whole life.

Thirdly, of course, it’s not wrong to seek advice from the former leaders especially on the explanations on the Constitution. However, as an organization with the history of 40 years, TYC has its own maturely institutional mechanism to resort to. Why did he turn to the former leaders for help? Did he distort the facts in front of these beloved leaders?

In my opinion, Dhondup Dorjee was the black sheep in the Tibetan Youth Congress. It was his selfishness that totally undermine TYC’s international image.
